So you have always wondered how a tower crane is ‘jumped’ – Here are some images showing the process.
1. A ‘triangular’ access platform is bolted to the underside of the crane slew ring.
2. Section of new mast is craned over and is connected to a block running under the platform.
3. The crane is jacked up with the outer section of mast pushing up from the existing mast sections
4. the new section of mast is then slid into the gap and bolted up
5. Outer section of mast is released & reset for the process to repeat.
