A detailed look at the crane ties shows how they have been designed to fit through a small gap in the glazing panels. These panels, also known as spandrel panels, are approx 200mm high, with only 115mm being available for the tie to be bolted through the slab. Each tie has approximately 20mm clearance to allow the tie to pass through.

Crane ties are typically arranged at intervals of four floors, any closer and the ties create too much force onto the crane mast. The ties on this elevation have been arranged to suit the spandrel locations. Due to the size it was not ideal to leave out a 3750mm section of glass. Hence the complex design and tight tolerances. This allows the internal finishes to be fully completed.
